I hope you all had a well-rested and enjoyable summer and are now ready for the new academic year at Warwick. Whether you were exploring new places, working, or perfecting the art of doing absolutely nothing at home (a highly underrated skill, may I add), Warwick Volunteers are excited to welcome you back on campus for another incredible year.

As a fellow student myself, I understand how busy term time can get. Therefore, it is crucial we still take time for ourselves, despite how overwhelming academic work can become. One easy way to manage your work-life balance is with Warwick Volunteers. We offer a wide range of opportunities, including cosy campus crafts, caring for natural areas around campus, working with children and elderly people, and much more. And the best part? It is completely flexible! You can commit as much or as little as you can around your other commitments.

Regardless of how many hours you volunteer for, here at Warwick Volunteers, we love to recognise and reward you all (and let's be honest, it feels nice to be appreciated). We offer various prizes, ranging from coffee cups to water bottles, as you accumulate more volunteer hours. Also, the hours you gain from volunteering are shown on your HEAR certificate and count towards your Warwick Award. Furthermore, volunteering is a great way to showcase your transferable skills which you can use to impress future employers, your connections on LinkedIn, or your family who are always wondering what you are up to at university.

As the President of Warwick Volunteers, I also want to reiterate the importance of the leadership roles offered throughout the year. Not only do we recruit student leaders for our volunteer projects, but we also open applications to join the exec team later in the year. As someone who has gone from being a Project Leader of Nature Conservation Volunteers to the President of Warwick Volunteers, I highly recommend that you get involved within the Warwick Volunteers’ family this year; it has been a lifechanging and rewarding experience.

Now it’s time to dust off your Warwick Volunteers hoodies and get ready for another year of helping, laughing, and taking pictures with Sammy, our amazing mascot!
